Hi there,
Welcome to the very first issue of Modern Mom Notes! I’m so glad you’re here. This newsletter is a space for moms (like me!) who are navigating the beautiful chaos of raising toddlers. Every week, I’ll share real stories, small but mighty parenting tips, and reminders that you’re not alone in this journey.
Since this is the beginning of my newsletter, I thought I’d start where motherhood itself begins — those first moments of expecting, preparing, and finally meeting your little one.
The Beginning
I still remember the rush of excitement when we found out we were expecting. Suddenly, every corner of our home felt like it needed to transform into a safe, cozy space for the baby. From browsing for crib to buying tiny onesies, the nesting stage made everything feel real.
And then, the day arrived. The moment I held my baby for the very first time, life shifted in an instant. It wasn’t just joy — it was awe, fear, responsibility, and an overwhelming combination of several emotions that words don’t fully capture.
Expectation vs. Reality
As a first-time parent, my husband and I learned something important: there’s no single “right way” to parent.
Expecting a child is a world full of plans, Pinterest boards, and well-meaning advice. But raising a child? That’s day-to-day learning. It’s savoring the small wins — like the first smile or a good nap — and surviving the tough nights when sleep feels like a myth.
Every parent’s journey is different, and that’s what makes it beautiful.
The Real Deal
If you’re at the beginning of this journey (or remembering your own), give yourself grace. You’ll have days where you feel like you’re winning at this — and days where you question everything. Both are normal. Both are valuable.
Here’s the real deal: parenting will test your patience, stretch your heart, and sometimes turn your world upside down. But it will also teach you resilience, creativity, and a kind of love you didn’t know was possible.
Practical tip: When the day feels overwhelming, try this simple reset — pause, take three slow breaths, and name one small win (even if it’s “I got a shower today”). It shifts your focus from what’s missing to what’s working.
I love what am about to say and so dearly wish I am able to live by it-
Parenting is not about perfection — it’s about presence.
Closing thoughts
Thank you for joining me on this journey. With Modern Mom Notes, I’ll share little stories, lessons, and encouragement each week — so we can celebrate the wins together and remind ourselves we’re never alone in the hard moments.
If this resonated with you, I’d love if you could share it with another mom who’s embracing her parenting journey or about to begin one 💛.
Until next time,
Aradhana
